ASU is hosting its first pep rally of the Fall football season this Friday, Aug. 30, at 5:30 p.m. in front of the New ASU Stadium under its Jumbotron as it prepares to play Jacksonville State University on Saturday.

"We wanted to kick off the season with a few thousand of our closest friends cheering on the team," said head Hornet football coach Reggie Barlow.

The Mighty Marching Hornets band, ASU cheerleaders, ASU dance team and the Hornets mascot will join Coach Barlow and members of the Hornets football team to get its fans ready for Saturday's home opener.

The festivities also will include live music by a DJ. Hornets fans are asked to wear black and gold on Friday to share their "Ole Bama State Spirit" and to show their school pride as members of the Hornet Nation.

On Saturday, fans are encouraged to wear camouflage as part of the theme, "It's Hunting Season!" The home opener on Saturday will be televised live on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS), and by WVAS 90.7 FM, the "Voice of Alabama State University."

Tickets may be purchased up until 7 p.m. Friday and again starting at noon (Saturday) on game day at ASU's New Stadium box office. The normal hours of operations for the box office are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Fans also may purchase tickets by visiting www.alasu.edu and clicking on the icon marked "buy tickets."
