Former Daleville city worker charged with arson

DALEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a former Daleville employee has been charged with arson and criminal trespassing in connection with a fire at the city shop.

The Dothan Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/19StFiW ) that the Aug. 15 blaze damaged an estimated $250,000 in property.

Daleville Police Chief Harvey Mathis said 34-year-old Jonathan Brock Wofford is charged with second-degree arson, second-degree criminal trespassing and five counts of first-degree criminal mischief. He was being held in the Dale County Jail under no bond. It wasn't known early Friday whether Wofford has an attorney.

Authorities say four city vehicles - including two bush hog tractors and two trucks - were damaged after the apparent arson fire at the city's shop.

Mathis said Wofford is a former city employee who had been released from duties earlier.
