CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Big Red Machine's "Great Eight" are reuniting this weekend for the first time at Great American Ball Park.

Yep. The starting eight members of the 1975-76 Cincinnati Reds World Series Championship teams came together on Friday as part of Joe Morgan weekend -  Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Dave Concepcion, George Foster, Ken Griffey, Sr. and Cesar Geronimo, and of course, Joe Morgan.

This team dominated the 70s. Throughout the decade, they averaged just more than 96 wins a year, captured the 1975 and 1976 titles and are the last National League team to win two consecutive championships.

On Friday evening, all eight Reds legends took the field in special post-game ceremonies followed by a fireworks show set to 1970s-era soundtrack.

The Great Eight will also participate in the Joe Morgan statue unveiling and dedication on Crosley Terrace prior to Saturday's game. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m.

FOX19's Kelly Rippin was there Friday morning when the statue arrived. Check out the preview: https://vine.co/v/hJdb9HAb03b

They'll be on field again Saturday for the "Joe Morgan Day" pregame ceremonies, culminating in a first pitch by the Hall of Fame second baseman.

Bonus: Free Joe Morgan T-shirts will be given to the first 20,000 fans at Saturday's game!

Reds officials say tickets are still available for games:

  • Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1:05 p.m., Reds vs. L.A. Dodgers
  • Sunday, Sept. 8 at 8:05 p.m., Reds vs. L.A. Dodgers
