LEAWOOD, KS (KCTV) -

Two men and two women are stealing wallets from inattentive patrons at Johnson County coffee houses and bakeries.

Leawood and Overland Park police have taken several recent reports.

Security video released by the Leawood Police Department Thursday night shows one brazen theft. In the video, a woman is seen apparently staring at a computer screen and typing with reading materials spread out in front of her.

The man and woman change tables and then the man literally gets down on his belly and crawls forward to snatch her wallet from her purse. They then immediately leave the coffee shop before the woman knows her wallet was gone.

The victim's credit cards were almost immediately used at two different stores to purchase thousands of dollars in gift cards, Leawood police said. Two women made the purchases.

If you have any information, call Leawood police at 913-642-5555 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
