PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police have arrested a man they say was meeting men online and orchestrating heists at dozens of the victims' Valley homes for several months.

Phoenix Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said Luis Miguel Valenzuela, 26, and other suspects were involved in multiple armed robberies and kidnappings in June and July.

Martos said the investigation dates back to early June when they discovered that Valenzuela used social media websites and phone applications.

Police would not confirm what websites and applications were used however, Martos said Valenzuela was on at least two websites specifically geared towards sexual encounters for men seeking other men.

The suspect used his photo in his profile and began meeting men at their Valley homes.

Detectives said after Valenzuela engaged in sex acts, he would rob the victim and anyone else in the home, at gunpoint. He would also bring friends. Police said Valenzuela would have between two and five different people come in to help grab expensive items in the house.

Police tell CBS 5 News that detectives have four confirmed victims and they were all bound before the suspects fled. Police believe there may be as many as 40 victims.

Phoenix police are asking anyone who may know the suspect or believe they were one of Valenzuela's victims, to call the department's robbery unit at 602-256-4362.
