INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 just east of Kauffman Stadium were closed after a pedestrian was struck.

This occurred about 9 p.m. Friday. The pedestrian was initially listed in serious but stable condition, Independence police said. Police later said the pedestrian had died.

The driver did stop after the crash. The car suffered significant front-end damage.

Traffic was getting by slowly by 10:30 p.m. The closure affected some fans leaving Kauffman Stadium after the Royals lost.
