    The Tucson Police Department is creating a special board consisting of sergeants, lieutenants and now six Tucson residents that will soon be in charge of reviewing cases in which officers had to use force out on the field while on duty.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Shortly after midnight early Friday morning, an SUV with several people inside managed to evade Tucson Police. An APB went out over the radio and the Pima County Sheriff's Department Air Unit on the lookout.

Flying in a smaller plane called a Helio Courier, the flight crew of Survey 2, spotted the runaway suspects on Ajo Way in Three Points and immediately began relaying their location to deputies on the ground, "Survey 2 he just made a turn north on Hermans." Chances are the driver had no idea he was being followed and watched from the air as the radio chatter picked up, "his lights are back on too. Survey 2 his lights are back on."

Survey 2 does the majority of its flight patrols at night. Part of its mission is surveillance and it's packed with some powerful cameras that are able to zoom in and cut through the darkness with night vision.

It didn't take long for the crew to spot the SUV that had evaded Tucson Police just a short while earlier. The Tactical Flight Deputy was in constant contact with deputies moving in, relaying vital information, "pay attention to the driver. Survey 2, the driver is the one in front, he's the front guy."

The sheriff's department says the driver, Anthony Medina, is facing several charges including running from police, felony endangerment, and driving on a suspended license. The suspects may have tried to lose cops in the dark desert but there was no way to escape the sheriff's department's eyes in the sky.
