Olathe police suspect an attempted homicide-suicide after a man was found dead and a woman critically injured in a wrecked vehicle.

Police said in a news release that officers responded Saturday about 12:07 a.m. to a single-car accident near 124th Street and Black Bob Road. The man found inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.

The man was later identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Fischbach of Olathe.

Police said their injuries appeared to be unrelated to the accident. Officers also found a handgun inside the vehicle.

The names of the man and woman weren't immediately released.

Olathe police continue investigating the accident and are asking the public to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 with any information that helps with the case.
