SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg baker found a man in her closed business and the store ransacked over the weekend, according to deputies.

Erika Hartman, baker at Cupcake Creations on Boiling Springs Road, went to pick up a wedding cake to deliver on Sunday and heard someone rummaging through the store, according to Spartanburg County Deputies. Deputies said as she moved through the store she noticed a man wearing an apron and running from the front door.

Hartman then ran out of the store and locked herself in her car and called 911, deputies said.

Hartman said the suspected burglar moved everything around in her cupcake shop and even booby-trapped the entrances. She said the man put pots over the doors, knives in the locks and Crisco on the floors.

Hartman said the suspected burglar took money from a donation jar which was set up to collect money for her friend whose husband recently died. He also took money from the cash drawer, she said.

The man also ruined a $1,000 toaster and did other damage to the business, Hartman said.

Hartman said this hurts her small business and they are going to have to close for a week.

The wedding cake that she initially went to pick up was successfully delivered and she said the suspected burglar did not gain access to the room where it was being kept.

She said the suspected burglar did not eat any cupcakes.

The suspect has not been identified, according to Spartanburg deputies.
