Prosecutor, family go door to door seeking clues in double murder

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A young mother and her daughter were gunned down, and a family is desperately searching for answers.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker joined Myeisha Turner's loved ones in going door to door Tuesday in their quest for answers. Turner, 28, along with her 3-year-old daughter Damiah White, were found slain on Aug. 23. Turner's 1-year-old son was found wandering in the house, and he is now in the custody of his father who has also pleaded for answers.

"Somebody please come forward with some information," Kevin Turner said about the death of his niece and her daughter. "We are really in need of it to bring closure to our family. That's all we ask."

Kevin Turner was joined by Baker and police officers as they canvassed the Blue Hills Park neighborhood near 53rd Street and Brooklyn Avenue. They passed out fliers.

"We know we can't bring them back," Baker said. "But we want to get their killer off of the street. Their killer is still out there."

The family will hold an event at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Hills Park. They hope their efforts will lead to witnesses coming forward so that the family can have justice.

Kevin Turner said his sister needs answers about the slayings of her daughter and granddaughter.

"Somebody knows something. And we just want them to come forward and tell them [police] what they know, what they saw. That's it," he said.
