FARLEY, MO (KCTV) -

A garage fire ended up damaging two homes overnight.

The Southern Platte County Fire Department was called shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 300 block of North Street.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy flames were coming from the garage, which eventually collapsed.

The wind whipped some of those flames to homes on either side of the garage, causing some exterior damage.

Families were home in both those houses, but they were able to get out safely. The Red Cross was called in to assist those families.

A couple of power lines were torn down when the garage collapsed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Kansas City Fire Department assisted in putting out the fire.
