NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Gallatin family that was spared in a wreck Thursday is still looking for one of their two dogs, who went missing after the crash.

The Wilson family's car was flipped on its side in an accident that happened during a traffic stop on Highway 109.

The Wilsons were stuck in that car, but their two Boston Terriers, Chelsea and Rocco, got out and ran away.

"We were unable to get out, but our pups, they got out. And in a blind panic they ran down the freeway. Traffic was stopped. Somebody did stop and try to get the dogs but I think that spooked them further and then actually split them up," Tony Wilson, the dogs' owner, told Channel 4 News.

The family has been searching for those pups since the accident, and their posts on social media have attracted a lot of attention.

"We've contacted all the shelters, the police departments, the vets, and most of the time, the majority of the time when we've called, somebody's already called them for us. So we just have to say we've been in a car accident and they already know who we were, and that's really cool."

Tony Wilson found Rocco after he was seen begging for food at a neighborhood about 10 miles away from the site of the crash. The family who fed him also let him spend the night in their home, before letting him back outside the next morning.

Chelsea was last seen on Lock 4 Road in Gallatin, heading toward the lake. She is a 2-year-old, black, female Boston Terrier, wearing a pink collar.
