Bengals re-sign JK Schaffer to practice squad

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals brought J.K. Schaffer back to the practice squad on Thursday.

The Bengals tweeted on Monday afternoon that they'd moved the linebacker and Cincinnati native off the practice squad and onto the roster, but on Wednesday they followed with an update that he'd been waived.

Once he cleared waivers early Thursday, the Bengals were able to put Schaffer back on the practice squad.

Schaffer graduated from La Salle High School in Cincinnati. From there, he played a few seasons at UC and was signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He was released from their practice squad and then signed by the Bengals in November of 2012.

Schaffer played in all four Cincinnati preseason games and led the team in tackles (20), with one sack and one interception.

As part of this roster move, they signed Jeromy Miles, a safety and cornerback Curtis Marsh. Miles was previously released. Miles played last week at Chicago and had one special teams tackle.
