The Atlanta Falcons always talk about having a "next man up" mentality.
This time, the next four men are up.
In a costly win over the St. Louis Rams, the Falcons lost defensive end Kroy Biermann and fullback Bradie Ewing to season-ending injuries, while linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will be out at least eight weeks. Also, running back Stephen Jackson has already been scratched from Sunday's game in Miami against the unbeaten Dolphins, though his injury isn't as serious.
The Falcons (1-1) are keeping an upbeat attitude, at least while talking with the media on Wednesday. Quarterback Matt Ryan says nothing has changed for a team that came into the season with high aspirations after nearly reaching the Super Bowl last season. He's "got a lot of confidence" in the backups.
