TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is selling its long-time headquarters on the northwest side as part of a reorganization.

As part of the transition to make Chicago the national headquarters of MDA, the non-profit will move out of the 15,000 square foot building on Sunrise, just east of Campbell, and find another building in Tucson to lease.

The MDA first moved to Tucson in 1991, and in 1992 they opened the building on Sunrise.

Currently there are 110 employees working in the building. Most of them will stay here Tucson.

Between 15 to 20 of them will be relocated within the next year.

They say the building on Sunrise is pretty expensive to run, and leasing a building in Tucson is more cost effective.

MDA will move to Chicago in the early part of next year and says they won't leave the building until it's sold.

They also say the money from the sale will be used to support their mission and strengthen their financial position.
