HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Four teenagers have been arrested on drug charges after a car driving toward J.O. Johnson High School clipped a school crossing guard and kept driving, according to Huntsville police.
Authorities said it happened after noon Friday on Cecil Fain Drive. Police said the crossing guard tried to stop the vehicle when it clipped the guard with the side mirror and kept going. Officers were able to catch up to the driver a few blocks down the road.
Police found cocaine in the car during a search. No one inside claimed ownership. A 17-year old driver and three occupants between 17 and 18 years of age were arrested and charged with possession. Police officials said the driver may also be charged with the hit-and-run.
The crossing guard was identified as 41-year-old Tammy Green, who was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing; the names of those arrested have not yet been released.
