LUDLOW, MA (WSHM) -

An 83-year-old woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Ludlow.

Police say calls came in before 7:30 p.m. that an elderly woman had been hit at the intersection of Winsor and Bristol streets.

The woman was taken to Baystate Medical Center with leg, abdomen and hip injuries.

Police closed the intersection down for about an hour while they reconstructed the accident.

The state police and district attorney's office have been notified, but Ludlow police say the driver was not impaired and was not violating any laws.
