MILLER CO, AR (KSLA) -
An oil rig worker seriously injured Monday after a piece of equipment broke loose on a drilling rig is recovering at a Little Rock hospital.
It happened on a well site on CR 25 in Mandeville in Miller County Monday morning. 49-year-old Manny Sanders was standing on a platform about 50 feet up the rig when cable snapped as the workers were raising a large pulley and slammed into the platform.
Sanders was trapped, suffering several broken bones, including in his legs, pelvis and at least one arm.
Sanders was brought down after about 3 hours with the help of a Texarkana, Texas Fire Department high angle rescue team. Rescue crews from Miller County Volunteer Fire Department were also on the scene.
Sanders works for Young Well Services out of Lewisville, Arkansas. There were 3 other workers at the scene when the incident occurred. No others were injured.
