Crime scene or Halloween? Decorated Greenville home turns heads

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Crime scene tape and bloody handprints on the windows - from the road, it looks like the scene of a grisly incident.

Concerned citizens called FOX Carolina to the scene, wondering what brutal crime had taken place at the home on Grace Street in Greenville.

Micah Sanders said he saw people slow down and stare at his house throughout the day.

"Their first reaction was 'What's going on?' and 'What happened to the person in there?'" Sanders said.

Looking closer, one can see it is just a house in the beginning stages of becoming a haunted house for Halloween. A small section of the yard features glow-in-the-dark skulls and crossbones, along with little plastic tombstones.

"We are just doing a Halloween trick-or-treat thing for the kids," said Tobias Drummond, Sanders' neighbor.

The neighbors said they are getting a kick out of the reaction from people.

"I think it's kind of funny - it's fun for me because Halloween is all about fun, decorating and doing things out of the ordinary," said Drummond. "Never thought that $5 decorations would make such a big scene."

They plan to add on to their decorations because they want it to be scarier. They also want it to not look as much like a real crime scene.
