PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -
The Prattville Police Department says it has captured a man who ran from an investigator and rammed a police car. The incident happened between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
The suspect, 28-year-old Matthew Bailey, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in the area of Adell Street, the same area where he disappeared hours earlier.
Bailey was approached by an officer Tuesday morning who was investigating a case of identity theft. When the officer approached him, Bailey is said to have gotten into a vehicle to flee the scene.
Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson said a chase was started and at some point, Bailey rammed the investigator's vehicle.
The suspect then got out of his car and fled on foot behind some homes near Adell Street and Cooper Avenue. Search dogs and a helicopter were requested to help with the search but Bailey was not found.
Tuesday afternoon, investigators with the Prattville Police Department got a tip that he was back in the area of Adell Street and moved in to capture him.
Bailey now faces attempting to elude and reckless endangerment charges. Other charges are pending.
