SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A body found Tuesday morning floating in the Savannah River has been identified as a 15-year-old Savannah teen who left home Saturday night.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said dental records were used to confirm the identity of Jonathan Brown who lived in the 200 block of South Avalon Drive.

Brown had been sitting along the river just before 10 a.m. Sunday in downtown Savannah. Witnesses nearby heard a splash and saw him in the water. Police said bystanders tried to throw a rope to him, but he went underwater. He was found a few hundred feet upriver on Tuesday morning.
