Lady Rams rally over defending SIAC champs

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany State head volleyball coach Robert Skinner said the Lady Rams just needed to start playing well.

They did when it counted.

Down 2-0 to defending SIAC Champion Clark Atlanta, ASU rallied and swept the final three games to stun the Panthers in Albany.

The Panthers rallied to steal the first set from ASU. The Lady Rams led 25-24, but CAU scored three straight to earn the first win.

In Game Two, Albany State came out of the gate sluggish.

Skinner called a timeout with his team down 5-0. The Lady Rams could never recover, and fell 25-20.

Momentum shifted in game three.

The Lady Rams jumped out to a 12-7 lead on their way to a 25-16 win.

Game Four went ASU's way as well, 25-18.

In the fifth and final game, the Lady Rams trailed 12-10, but rallied to score five of the final six points, and escape with the 15-13 win.

Albany State is now 6-1 in SIAC play. They travel to Miles Saturday, with another conference battle Sunday against Claflin at home.
