DEFIANCE COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after his car veered off the side of the road in Defiance County.

The crash happened at 12:05 a.m. Friday on Platter Creek Road, just south of Jericho. State Patrol says Jason Edds, 34, was driving southbound on Platter Creek Road when his car traveled off the left side of the road, striking several trees. Edds had to be extricated from the car by the Jaws of Life, and was taken to the hospital by an air ambulance.

State Patrol says they believe alcohol is a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
