LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The following is a list of roadways likely to be affected by construction related to the new Downtown and East End Bridge crossings. Information is provided by the Downtown/East End Bridge Crossing & the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

As part of the widening of I-65 North, Walsh construction crews are scheduled to close the 66th Street ramp in Jeffersonville, IN.  The 66th Street ramp and Broadway Street from Court Avenue to 66th Street are scheduled to close Monday, September 30.  The permanent closures are expected after 9 p.m.

The detour route for local motorists accessing I-65 North will be Court Avenue to Spring Street to the 1010th Street ramp. 

Work Currently Underway:

Louisville Streets:

The left lane and left parking lane of Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Preston Street are expected to be closed through Monday, September 30 for work on a temporary signal.

The right lane of Preston Street from Market Street to Jefferson Street is expected to be closed through Monday, September 30 for work on a temporary signal.

Lane closures are expected on Witherspoon Street from Clay Street to River Road through Monday, September 30 for utility work and pile driving.  Flaggers will be directing traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. One lane of traffic will be moving in each direction the rest of the day.

The right lane and right parking lane on Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street are scheduled to be closed through Monday, September 30 for pile driving in the area.

The right lane and right parking lane on Jackson Street from Market Street to Jefferson Street are scheduled to be closed through Monday, September 30 for pile driving in the area.

The right lane on Witherspoon Street from Clay Street to Preston Street is scheduled to be closed through Friday, October 4 for utility relocation and crane placement.

Work Scheduled for week of September 30:

Work scheduled to begin Monday, September 30:

Jackson Street is scheduled to be closed from Jefferson Street to Market Street Monday, September 30-Friday, October 11 for pile driving in the area.

Continuing Closures and Restrictions:

Kentucky Side:

The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through the spring of 2016.

The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through 2016.

Indiana Side:

77th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street.  This is a permanent closure.

VFW Boulevard has closed from 77th Street to 99th Street.   This is a permanent closure.

US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes for several months.

US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane for several months.  Vehicles are still able to exit onto 1010th Street.

The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur. Also, given the aggressive overall construction schedule for the project, Walsh DBT may shift work schedules when opportunities arise. East End Traffic Closures:

East End Blasting Schedule for Week of Sept. 30:

Blasting to prepare for the new tunnel in the east end of Louisville is scheduled to occur near the intersection of U.S. 42 and KY 841 during the week of September 30. Traffic will be stopped for up to 20 minutes during these blasts.

The dates and approximate times (within 15 minutes) will be:

Monday, September 30, at about noon, at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m.

Tuesday, October 1, at about noon, at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m.

Wednesday, October 2, at about noon, at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m.

Thursday, October 3, at about noon, at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m.

Friday, October 4, at about 12:30 p.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, October 5, at about noon

Lane closures scheduled for KY 841

KY 841 will be down to one northbound lane and one southbound lane between I-71 and U.S. 42 for an approximately three-week period, beginning October 7.  During this period, the lane closures will be each weekday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Lane, shoulder closures at Springdale–Wolf Pen Branch intersection

There will be shoulder closures on both Wolf Pen Branch Road and Springdale Road in the vicinity where the two roads intersect from October 7 through October 11 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.  There also will be periodic one-lane traffic on each of the roads in the vicinity of the intersection.  The one-lane traffic will be maintained by flaggers alternating traffic from each direction.

INDIANA UPDATES:

Lane closures planned for SR 265 – SR 62 area

One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be closed on SR 265 from the 1010th street interchange to approximately one mile west of the interchange, from October 16 through October 18.  The lane closures will be in place 24 hours per day during this period.

One northbound lane and one southbound lane of SR 62/1010th Street will be closed nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. – starting Wednesday evening, October 16, and running through Friday morning, October 18 – in an area extending about ½ mile north and south of the SR 265 interchange.

The ramps at the interchange of SR 265 and SR 62/1010th Street will be periodically closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. – starting Wednesday evening, October 16, and running through Friday morning, October 18. 

There will be some shoulder closures and other possible lane restrictions on Port Road between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. – starting Wednesday evening, October 16, and running through Friday morning, October 18 – in an area extending from I-265 to about one mile south on Port Road.

On each day, prior to the blasts, traffic must be stopped for five to twenty minutes for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Traffic stops during the blasts will occur on KY 841 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and U.S. 42, and on U.S. 42 between Wolf Pen Branch Road and Bridgepointe Boulevard. If unfavorable weather conditions at the time of a scheduled blast are expected, the blast time may be moved to earlier that day.
