Tibetan Monks wrap up world renowned painting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Tibetan Monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery wrapped up their stay in Savannah creating their Mandala Sand Painting at the Telfair Museums' Jepson Center on Sunday.

The monks have been in Savannah since Monday creating the world renowed painting.

Paintings of this type are one of the most of artistic expressions and are said to generate energies that promote global healing.

"For us it's a passion, it is like a spiritual practice, and of course nothing comes easy but they train for many years for this art," said Gala Rinposheh, High Lama.

After the closing ceremony they destroyed the painting, and handed out some of the sand to audience members. They then released the sand into the Savannah River to spread the healing energies throughout the world.
