Kennedy Connector: Resurfacing to begin on Madison Rd.

OAKLEY, OH (FOX19) -

Lane closures are scheduled this week for Madison Road as part of Cincinnati's Kennedy Connector Project.

Officials say Madison Road will be completely resurfaced, curb-to-curb, from Ridge Avenue to the new Kennedy Avenue. Additional road rehabilitation will also take place between Kennedy and Steel Place.

Surface replacement will take place on Ridge Road at the intersection with Ibsen Avenue. Barrow Avenue will also receive resurfacing near the intersection with Ridge. City officials say the surface will be replaced where Kennedy Avenue nears Duck Creek Road.

The first phase will be grinding off the top two inches of the current surface. A new asphalt surface is scheduled to be installed Wednesday and Thursday.

Work is slated to begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. While grinding and resurfacing take place, city officials point out there will be temporary lane restrictions during morning or evening rush hour.

This resurfacing represents the end of major roadwork on the Madison Road side of the project until the new section of Kennedy Avenue opens later this year.

As part of the Kennedy Connector project, a new roadway will be created connecting the Kennedy and Duck Creek intersection to the Madison and Camberwell intersection, with new roads to I-71 south and the Norwood Lateral.

The project began in the spring and is expected to take nearly two years to complete.
