DELHI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A stolen family heirloom is returned 22 years after it was stolen from a Delhi Township, Ohio home.

Back in 1991, a victim had several guns stolen from his home. One of those guns was a Mauser Broomhandle with a wooden holster that also becomes a stock.

This rare gun, a collectable, was brought back from World War II by the victim's father.

A short time after the offense, investigators did make an arrest in the case. Despite every effort, investigators were unable to recover the stolen heirloom.

Delhi Police say original investigators on the case have long since retired.

Using sophisticated technology, police were able to track down the gun. On Tuesday, October 1, the heirloom was reunited with the victim.

Police say that the victim, who'd succumbed to the fact he would never see the heirloom again, was ecstatic with the recovery.
