Alabama Power says it has a thorough and extensive storm plan and is ready to put it in place if needed. The company says it is closely monitoring the weather and will continue to communicate internally and with other utilities to ensure that we are ready to respond whenever and wherever the need may arise.
In the event of storm-related issues, customers can follow these tips:
• If power is out or to report a downed power line, please call Alabama Power --- 1-800-888-APCO (2726).
• Stay away from downed lines. Do not attempt to remove tree limbs or anything else caught in power lines. It is impossible to know whether the line is energized or not.
• Stay clear of areas with fallen trees or debris where downed lines may be hidden. Stay away from areas where crews are working
• If using a generator, for your safety and that of our crews, read the instruction manual (operate the generate outdoors, do not wire the generator directly to the home's wiring, etc.)
