MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department has arrested and charged a relative of the victim in the city's 40th homicide of 2013.

Investigators say 23-year-old Nicktavius Pringle is charged with one count of murder in the death of his cousin, Demarcus Pringle, after turning himself into detectives Friday.

Investigators say the arrest stems from a shooting that happened October 3 in the 4400 block of Chatham Place.

MPD's investigation indicates that the shooting was the result of a verbal altercation between the victim and his cousin that escalated.

Pringle was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a $75,000 bond.

No additional information is available for release relative to this ongoing investigation.
