AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department says it has arrested two people following a shooting that happened Sunday evening in the 800 block of Annalue Drive.

Officers were called to the residence just before 9 p.m. on a report that a man found two people inside his home. The homeowner fired several shots at the suspects who then fled the scene.

The victim reported two Samsung cell phones valued at $600 were taken in the burglary.

After a search of the area by police, the two suspects were apprehended still in the vicinity of where the crime occurred. Investigators say Dezdrian Smith, 24 of Atlanta, Ga. and Kentarious J. Barnett, 21, of Opelika are charged on felony warrants for Burglary Third Degree, Theft of Property Second Degree and Fleeing. Smith is also charged with Attempting to Elude.

Investigators say Smith suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound when the homeowner fired shots. He was taken to the emergency room at East Alabama Medical Center where he was treated and later released into police custody.

Smith and Barnett were transferred to the Lee County Jail, where they are awaiting bond. Smith's bond was set at $6,000 and Barnett's bond is $9,000.
