CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield police have arrested a man in this summer's shooting death of a horse on Winterpock Road.

Steven A. Dunn, of Greensboro, NC, turned himself in to police Thursday. Police announced Wednesday they had obtained warrants against Dunn for maiming or killing of livestock and reckless handling of a firearm in relation to the incident.

The 30-year-old is accused of shooting a killing a horse in June in the 11900 block of Winterpock Road.

Henry Gleghorn owned the horse, named Legend. He says the horse was shot in the throat at close range in this pasture.

Dunn also faces charges for several counts of larceny. Gleghorn says police told him several men were involved in a crime spree around the same time of Legend's death. Police say only Dunn has been charged for shooting the horse.
