BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Maumee man is dead after his losing control of his motorcycle in Wood County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash on State Route 65 just east of State Route 582 in Middleton Township.

Troopers say at approximately 3:45pm, 57-year-old Ray Wampler, of Maumee, lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was ejected from the bike.

Mr. Wampler sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Toledo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Mr. Wampler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The accident backed up heavy traffic that was coming from and going to the Apple Butter Festival in Grand Rapids.
