Southwest plane diverted to Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A Southwest Airlines plane diverted to the Montgomery Regional Airport Sunday due to an engine issue.

Southwest spokesperson Chris Mainz says Flight #2878 from Orlando to Kansas City diverted to Montgomery because it was the closest airport at the time.

The flight landed safely without any injuries.

Another plane was brought in and the passengers arrived in Kansas City about four hours late.

The plane that experienced the engine issue is still in Montgomery getting repair work done.
