DICKSON, TN (WSMV) -

A Texas man is accused of driving illegal moonshine through Tennessee.

Police stopped William Stausing, 45, earlier this month for a license plate violation while on Interstate 40 in Dickson County.

A police dog detected something suspicious in the car, and officers then found 13 large bottles of untaxed whiskey.

Stausing claimed the moonshine was for personal consumption, but an alcohol agent said the man was carrying notes on how to sell the liquor at a profit and a recipe for how to flavor apple pie moonshine.

The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Stausing is charged with possessing and transporting untaxed alcohol across state lines.

He was released in lieu of a $1,000 bond from the Dickson County Jail and is scheduled to appear Dec. 6 in Dickson County General Sessions Court.
