PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A 5-week-old kitten is recovering at the Arizona Humane Society's Sunnyslope trauma center after being tossed out of a moving truck in Phoenix Sunday morning.

A good Samaritan saw it happen at 43rd Avenue and Bell Road. Emergency Animal Medical Technicians arrived at the scene to rescue the animal, said AHS spokeswoman Ashliegh Goebel.

The kitten didn't receive any serious injuries and is expected to be OK.

Weighing less than a pound, AHS will be sending the kitten to a foster home where he will spend the next few weeks gaining weight so he can go up for adoption.
