It turns out small blue fruit isn't a concern for the Michigan man behind the mysterious "I'm Concerned About The Blueberries" billboard in Flint.
Business owner Phil Shaltz tells The Flint Journal for a story Friday that "blueberries" represent the daily struggles people face. He paid for the billboard that went up this week on west Interstate 69 near I-75.
Shaltz described it as a "stunt" that he hopes will encourage people to think about other people's problems -- however small -- and help if possible.
He was inspired by a conversation with a tour guide while visiting Alaska. The guide uttered the phrase, but when pressed explained he was concerned about a lack of rain.
Sleuths would be forgiven for misunderstanding. Michigan is a major producer of blueberries.
