LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

A person was fatally struck by a train in Lawrence.

The collision occurred about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday. The man was struck by an eastbound train on the BNSF track near Burcham Park.

"The section of the track was not located near a pedestrian or roadway crossing area. The pedestrian was transported from the scene by ambulance; however, was pronounced dead before arriving at a hospital," according to a news release from the Lawrence Police Department. "Officers from the Lawrence Police Department are working with officials from BNSF to investigate the incident."
