MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

For the second straight year, Carver High School is sending a player to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Tuesday Carver linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton officially received his invitation to the game, which is scheduled for Jan. 4 at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.

Hamilton is one of just 90 high school seniors who have been selected.

Students are chosen not only because they excel on the football field but also because of their mental, emotional and physical toughness similar to Army soldiers, according to the Army.

Hamilton joins the ranks of talented alumni comprised of NFL stars and Heisman Trophy winners like Andrew Luck, Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.

Two other local students will receive their official invitations to the game Friday. Saint James High School band standouts Madison Smith and Alexander Chung have been selected for the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Marching Band.
