Man and woman arrested for speeding, heroin possession

LUDLOW, MA (WSHM) -

A man and woman are under arrest after being pulled over for speeding in Ludlow Monday night.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, officers stopped a car for speeding on Route 91 northbound in Ludlow.

Police say the driver, identified as Philip Patoine, 27, of Vermont did not have a driver's license. Police confirmed there was a passenger, Cassandra Gale, 29, who also was not properly licensed.

According to authorities, police then searched the car and found 200 bags of a white and powdery substance believed to be heroin.

Patoine and Gale were then arrested and are facing a number of charges including possession to distribute a Class A substance and conspiracy to violate the drug law.

Police say Patoine faces additional charges including speeding and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
