MPD investigating the city's 42nd homicide of 2013

The Montgomery Police Department is investigating the city's 42nd homicide this year following the shooting death early Tuesday morning of 18-year-old Jevonte Scott of Montgomery.

MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 100 block of Cedar Street at about 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 22, after receiving a report of a subject down. At the scene, they located Scott, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting are under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Scott's death is Montgomery's 42nd homicide of 2013. No additional information is available for release relative to this ongoing investigation.

Police ask individuals with knowledge of this homicide to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 262-4000, or the Montgomery Police Department at 625-2831.
