TURTLECREEK TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

An 18-year-old girl was killed and six other people injured in an accident Thursday evening on Route 63 in Turtlecreek Township.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near the Lebanon Correctional Institution, located between Lebanon and Monroe.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kelsie Barger, 18, of Fairfield, was driving a 2005 Hyundai headed east on State Route 63. Troopers say Barger lost control of her vehicle, went left of the center line and collided head-on with an SUV.

Jose Lugo, 51, of Lebanon, was driving the 2011 GMC SUV. He and the five other passengers in his car were taken to the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown with non-life threatening injuries.

Barger was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say everyone in the accident was wearing a seat belt.

Turtlecreek Township crews responded to the scene with assistance from Lebanon and Monroe medics.

The crash remains under investigation.
