City cuts ribbon on Westwood's new fire house

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

The City of Cincinnati cut the ribbon on its newest fire house Thursday in Westwood.

Fire Station 35 is now located on Harrison Avenue, built approximately 1.5 miles away from the original building on Junietta Avenue.

It's replacing a 106-year-old building that will allow better access and delivery of services to the Westwood neighborhood. The facility is 18,000 square feet.

Fire Station 35 has gained the nickname "Midnight Express" since it has more calls after midnight than any other house.

Crews expect to move into the new building by the end of November once the dispatch center is complete.
