MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The State of Alabama auctioned off hundreds of vehicles in a public auction Friday.

The auction, held by the Alabama Department of Transportation, generates millions of dollars in funding for ALDOT's fleet renewal program.

Auctions held in 2012 were responsible for bringing in more than $10 million.

Officials say this year more than two hundred trucks and tractors were put on the auction block for the highest bidder. That's the largest number ever.

The auction happened near the Coliseum Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Auctioneers expected to sell a major piece of equipment every 45 seconds!
