BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) -

An officer and drug suspect were slightly injured after an undercover drug deal turned violent Friday in Bellevue.

Bellevue Police say they were conducting a controlled heroin buy Friday evening that had been previously arranged with a dealer.  Two people showed up for the planned buy.  When a pair of unmarked police cars moved in, the suspects took off leading to a short police chase.

The suspect's car rammed one of the unmarked police cars, then got trapped in an alley.  Police say the driver then ran his car towards an officer and struck him.

Another officer then fired a shot into the passenger window of the car, and the driver gave up.

Police said the two inside the car, which turned out to be a rental, were a pair of brothers from Cincinnati: 37-year-old Michael Phillips and the driver, 22-year-old Isaac Phillips.

Both have been charged with trafficking in heroin.  Police also charged Isaac Phillips with wanton endangerment and assault on a police officer.

Police say Isaac may have been driving the car because Michael had a suspended license and couldn't rent one himself. According to authorities, Michael Phillips has a lengthy criminal record.

The injured officer was treated and released for a bruise on his shin at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Thomas.

Michael Phillips had a cut on the back of his hand from a piece of broken glass.  He refused to go to the hospital and was treated on the scene.

Both suspects are being held in the Campbell County Detention Center.
