Police officer, suspect end up in hospital after chase

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A police officer and a suspect ended up in the hospital Friday night after a car chase.

About 9:30 p.m. in the area of 39th Street and The Paseo, Kansas City police spotted a vehicle they believe to have been involved in an earlier carjacking.

They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle sped off, northbound on the Paseo.

Around 29th Street and the Paseo, the driver lost control, striking a parked vehicle and a streetlight. At about the same time, as an officer attempted to avoid debris in the road, he lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car.

Both the suspect and the officer were taken to a local hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries. Both are expected to be OK.
