Cincinnati Bengals fan video goes viral

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A video of a surprise for a long-time Bengals fan became an instant hit on the internet a few weeks ago.

In the video, Brian Kinney surprised his father, Steve, an Ohio native, with a trip to his first NFL game to see his favorite team.

Kinney was born in Mansfield to a family of Browns fans, grew up in Dayton before moving to Texas, New Jersey and settling in Connecticut.  He's been a fan of the franchise since its inception in 1968.

"Being the rebellious teenager, I became an instant Bengals fan and have been ever since," said Steve Kinney.

From that point forward, he had never been to a Bengals game, let alone an NFL game, until Sunday.  But, after gifts of a new Bengals hat, a signed jersey, and the tickets from his family, things changed.

His son, Brian, executed the surprise with the whole family for the appreciative, humble man he calls his father.

"I knew that he has never been to an NFL game.  I just went to my first one this season.  I went to the Manning Bowl with my wife, and I had that experience, and I thought I really need to have this experience with my father," said Brian Kinney.

Upgraded seats, on-field pregame passes, a nice steak dinner and meeting Marvin Lewis and the team are just some of the added perks for the lifelong fan.

"I'm so excited for my dad.  This entire thing, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  It's been such a slam dunk for me to be a son, and do this for my dad," said Brian Kinney.

Tailgating and chatting it up with other Bengals fans on Sunday, you wouldn't know Kinney has never walked the lots of Paul Brown Stadium on game day.

"If this thing had stopped before we even got on the plane, it would have been over-the-top memorable.  Every minute that I'm awake since we got to Cincinnati has just been over-the-top overwhelming," said Steve Kinney.

The video of the big surprise has more than 400,000 views on YouTube.  To see the video, visit: Youtube.com/DadsBigSurpise
