OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -

A 22-year-old man died and four others were injured in a wreck early Sunday morning on Interstate 35.

Olathe police responded to the two-vehicle accident at 2:30 a.m. near the U.S. 56 Highway exit.

Southbound lanes were temporally closed as authorities investigated the accident.  All lanes reopened about 8 a.m.

Investigators said initial reports indicate that two vehicles were involved, and that one of the vehicles was driving northbound in the southbound lanes.

The driver and sole occupant of that vehicle was pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said.

The four occupants in the second vehicle were transported to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-7500 or 913-971-6950.
