BASSETT, CA (CNN) – For the second time within a week, human remains are found in water facilities in the Los Angeles area.
On Saturday, body parts were found at a plant in Carson. Then on Monday, there was another incident in Bassett, according to Detective Mike Rosson, with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
"During a check for a plug in the line they discovered a human torso,” Rosson said. “That human torso appears to be related to the torso, or the remains that were found in Carson Saturday morning. There is a direct link between this sanitation processing unit and Carson. The body appears to be a female, possibly a Hispanic."
Authorities say they’re investigating the matter as a homicide.
Officials report drinking water is not affected, because the remains were found in sewage facilities.
