(WMC-TV) - A Munford woman was indicted for impersonating a nurse.

Investigators accuse Beth Ann Cotton-Brown of working unlicensed at Primary Healthcare of Millington on Navy Road, Primary Care Pediatrics on Highway 51 in Millington, and Laurelwood Pediatrics on Sanderlin Avenue in Memphis.

Action News 5 reporter Nick Kenney's own doctor may have been duped by the 49-year-old woman.

"The news release came into our inbox, I read it, and went 'that's my kid's pediatrician,' " said Kenney.

He does not think his young son saw Cotton-Brown when authorities say she worked as a registered nurse at Laurelwood Pediatrics last year allegedly using a forged nursing degree and license.

"It's worrisome, and you hope nurses working with your children are actually nurses," said Kenney.

The Shelby County District Attorney announced through a release Tuesday that Cotton-Brown was indicted on five counts including identity theft, forgery, and impersonating a licensed professional.

In addition to Memphis, she's accused of faking it at Primary Healthcare of Millington where no one inside remembered her.

Neighbors Jason and Stephanie Morris, who have a 1-year-old son, also find the charges disturbing.

"Because when you take your child into a physician's office that they have the best interest of the child and legal documents and paperwork have been verified," said Stephanie.

Cotton-Brown is also charged with fabricating a letter from a Millington judge clearing her of driving charges. She is free tonight on a $5,000 bond.
