TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

University of Arizona Police Department officials apprehended a suspect in possible connection to a car theft in a campus parking lot.

Police said a University of Arizona student was confronted by a man with a knife in a parking lot on 6th Street and Fremont just before 5 p.m. She surrendered her Hyundai Sonata to the suspect, who fled the scene.

Authorities later found the vehicle outside the Tucson area and apprehended the suspect.

No injuries were reported.

The department reminds the public to be aware of one's surroundings and travel in well-lit areas at night to help prevent threatening situations.

The investigation was ongoing.
